Q: Do you charge for initial legal consultations?

A: As per professional discretion and subject to the nature of the matter, an initial consultation of up to 15 minutes may be offered without any obligation or fee per case per client, either telephonically or by way of personal visit to our firm, purely for preliminary understanding of the client's issue.The purpose of the initial meeting is to understand the basic facts of your case, evaluate whether your matter falls within our area of practice and help you understand the next steps, if any.

Q: What are your consultation fees?

A: We offer a 15-minute free consultation to understand the basic nature of your issue. After that, a fee of ₹1000 is charged for up to 30 minutes. Further charges apply if the consultation period exceeds 30 minutes, and may also vary depending on the complexity of the issue and the number of documents that need to be reviewed. A: Our law office is located at Santipur (Bharalumukh), Guwahati-781009, Assam. (Landmarks: J.P. Agarwala Road near Pragjyotish College, Bharalu River Sluice Gate). Q: Do you offer online or phone consultations?

Q: How long will it take to get justice in my case?

A: The duration of a legal case depends on its nature, complexity, and the functioning of the court. While we strive for timely resolution, no lawyer can guarantee a fixed timeline. 

Q: Have you handled similar cases before?

A: Yes, we have experience in a variety of writs, appeals, civil, land and property, probate, succession, criminal, bails and commercial matters. During consultation, we will let you know if your case aligns with our areas of expertise.  

Q: What documents should I bring for the first consultation?

A: Please bring any and all relevant documents related to your case such as notices, property papers, agreements, FIR copies, photographs, orders, and correspondence, etc. If you're unsure, just bring what you have—we will guide you accordingly. 

Q: What are my chances of winning the case?

A: We provide an honest preliminary assessment after reviewing your facts and documents. However, the final outcome depends on evidence, legal grounds, and court proceedings. 

Q: What will be the total cost of the case?

A: The total cost of a case depends on various factors such as the type of matter, the legal procedures involved, and the anticipated duration of the proceedings. The fees may be charged either as a lump sum or broken down into components such as: Filing fees, Legal notice service fees, Clerkage and documentation expenses, Per hearing (date-wise appearance) fees, Miscellaneous application and objection filing and hearing, Charges for cross-examination of witnesses (based on their number), Final argument fees, Statutory court fees, wherever applicable, etc. We maintain transparency in our fee structure to help clients plan their legal expenses better. After the initial consultation, we provide a case-specific fee estimate.

Q: Can I pay in installments?

A: This can be discussed during your first meeting. 

Q: Do you charge a percentage of the compensation?

A: No, we do not charge a percentage of the compensation. Our fee structure is independent of the compensation awarded and is based on the time, effort, and complexity involved in the case. We follow a transparent and ethical billing practice, in compliance with the Bar Council of India rules. 

Q: How will I be updated about my case?

A: We believe in transparent communication. Clients are updated through WhatsApp, phone calls, or email regularly or after every important hearing. 

Q: Can you take my case urgently?

A: Yes, we do take urgent matters such as bail applications, stay orders, or interim reliefs. Call us immediately for priority handling. 

Q: Is my information confidential?

A: Absolutely. All information shared with us is protected under advocate-client privilege and will be kept strictly confidential. 

Q: Can I change my current lawyer and hire you instead?

A: Yes, you have the right to choose your legal representative. We can guide you through the process of changing your lawyer, if necessary. 

Q: What happens if I lose the case—will there be any penalties?

A: Losing a case does not automatically result in penalties, unless the court specifically imposes costs or other directions. However, there is always scope for legal remedies such as appeal, review, or revision, depending on the facts and nature of the case.
